Oil Exploration
Oil exploration refers to the search of hydrocarbon deposits by geologists. To study landforms and do seismic analysis are just two examples of the techniques used to find those deposits. Advanced technology is often needed to find and determine the capacity of deposits, also known as reservoirs. However, some physical signs such as oil and natural seeps, and pockmarks may be evidence of reservoirs. This is an expensive and risky operation. Offshore exploration is more often undertaken by large companies while smaller businesses prefer onshore exploration.
